Capteura®  520 Amplifier Card

The Capteura® 520 Series non-contact displacement, gap and parallelism amplifier is the newest addition to the Capacitec Capteura® Modular non-contact capacitive displacement instrumentation packages and are the next generation and replacement for the super-linear 5100 series. Introduced in 2013, the new Capteura® 520 Series continues to offer Capacitec’s super-linear, and now additionally super stable and lowest noise solution for displacement measurements when used in conjunction with any of the Capacitec line of sensors.

Lab and field testing has confirmed that the Capteura® 520 series has the industry tested best performance for:

  • Small capacitive sensor size vs. large displacement and gap measurement range plus long cable lengths with minimal calibration changes
  • Capteura® series of true modular, compact amplifiers and electronic racks offer a cost competitive middle ground between old large electronic racks and new limited “mock modular” racks
  • Electrostatic Discharge Protection: IEC 61000-4-2 level 4 for contact (8kV) and air (16kV) discharge
  • Internal AC and DC (optional) power supplies vs. annoying external power bricks

Capteura® 520 Series provides the latest state-of-the-art electronics while offering significant added value to meet customers specific requirements with performance features such as:

  • A higher performance 520-XL Dual Amplifier Card with new very small 2U, 55.5 (H) X 100mm (L) size
  • The new 208 and 216 electronic racks are three times smaller that the previous generation (double the density of even the existing Capacitec mini modular 4000 series).
  • Easy push button calibration
  • ESD protected inputs
  • 0.05% accuracy
  • Better than 65,000:1 resolution (38nm) with HPC-150E-A-L2-1-B sensor, 200Hz bandwidth and 2.5mm range (double the range of competitive systems)
  • Customer selectable frequencies, 200Hz, 4kHz or 16kHz
  • Cable length changes of ≤10’ (3.05m) results in <0.2% change in output
  • Differential analog output (standard) and USB analog to digital converter (optional).

The Capteura® 520 Series modular amplifier cards are designed to operate with every probe diameter configuration and several sensitivity ranges by simple push button recalibration.

The system combines two amplifiers onto each card allowing it to be twice as dense as even our existing mini modular 4000 series racks.

When two or more channels are required Capacitec offers new compact multiple channel racks in 3 different form factors: 2 channel, up to 8 channel and up to 16 channel racks.

The stand alone 200-ENC holds one dual channel 520-XL board in a dedicated aluminum enclosure with a mating multi-pin output connector, power connector and extension cable. It is powered with an external universal 90-240VAC to 5V wall mounted power supply.

The 208-ACU and 216-ACU model racks are supplied with an internal universal power supply of 90-240VAC and the 208-DCU 8 channel and 216-DCU 16 channel racks are internally supplied with 9-36V DC/DC converter and mating DC power extension cable. The rear panel of the 208 and 216 rack provides one BNC female connector for each primary analog output in single-ended mode plus a 24-pin D-Sub for simple ended or differential mode. Analog output options are 0-10VDC, +/- 10VDC, or 0-5VDC that should be specified for calibration.

The packages are configured according to your particular needs from the following components:

Capteura® 520 series Enclosures and Racks:

200-ENC: The 200-EC is a stand-alone enclosure containing a dual channel amplifier.

The dual channel capacitive amplifier module is more cost effective as a stand-alone module than the multi-channel racks. The new unit has the same performance as the standard 520-XL amplifier card. Included with the Model 200-CP is a built in oscillator module and both are plugged into a stand alone rugged aluminum enclosure. The standard analog output is 0-10VDC.

The 200-ENC Amplifier module includes an external universal 90-240VAC to 5V wall mounted power supply, a 12-foot (3.6 meters) analog output cable and a 12-foot target grounding cable.

208: The Capteura® series 208 eight-channel mini modular rack front view is the same width as the Capacitec 4004 electronic rack and is one third the volume of the Capacitec 4008 eight channel rack.

The 208 rack (front view) is 7.00” (17.8 cm) wide including two one inch mounting flanges, with 5 actual slots holding up to 4 dual channel capacitive amplifier cards (8 channels of electronics) with the choice of 0-10VDC, +/- 10VDC, or 0-5VDC that should be specified for calibration. The fifth slot holds the 200-C Oscillator Card and optional –DAQ 8-channel A/D to USB data acquisition module.

The rack’s rear panel has a BNC output connector for each primary analog output plus an additional 25-pin D-Sub analog output connector providing single ended or differential output options.

An internal Universal (90 to 240V) AC power supply is available standard on the 208-ACU. An internal 9-36V DC/DC power supply is available on the 208-DCU. 

216: The Capteura® series 216 sixteen-channel mini modular rack front view is the same width as the Capacitec 4008 and the 216 rack is one third the volume of the Capacitec 4016 sixteen channel rack.

The 216 rack (front view) is 11.00” (28 cm) wide including two one inch mounting flanges, with 9 actual slots holding up to 8 dual channel capacitive amplifier cards (16 channels of electronics) with the choice of 0-10VDC, +/- 10VDC, or 0-5VDC that should be specified for calibration. The ninth slot holds the 200-C Oscillator Card and optional –DAQ 8-channel A/D to USB data acquisition module.

The rack’s rear panel has a BNC female connector for each primary analog output plus two additional 25-pin D-Sub analog output connectors providing single ended or differential output options.

An internal Universal (90 to 240V) AC power supply is available standard on the 216-ACU. An internal 9-36V DC/DC power supply is available on the 216-DCU. 

Capteura®  520 Series Amplifier Cards:

520-XL: Dual Channel 2U capacitive amplifier card dimensions are 2.15 (H) x 3.9 (L) x 1.0” (W)  (55 (H) x 100 (L) x 25.4 (W) mm) with linearity to ±0.05% of full scale or better to 2/3 sensor diameter.

520-XLC: Dual channel amplifier card with 200-CP oscillator module

220-B blank panel: a 1.0” (25.4mm) wide protective blank panel is available to cover empty slots.
